We purchased some gorgeous vintage dishes and got lucky with an estate in Pacific Grove, California that was built in the 1800s - the old window latches are really unique and so very charming.

Fun Times

We finally finished all of our deliveries from the San Juan Bautista Antique Fair. We feel very grateful for the many people who stopped by our booth and cannot wait to get photos of the sold items up on our blog.
It is hard work to set up for shows and we couldn't do it without the help of Debi's son Patrick and his best friend Curt. They were so patient and built some sturdy grids.
We brought some of our lavender and homemade rose potpourri.

Juli's Favorite

This is a very old window from the 1800s with all of the original hardware. We cleaned and conditioned the wood because we wanted to leave the original patina. We placed a signed Wedgwood dish in the center. click any picture to enlarge

There is a natural crackle with different specks of color that show through, it just so happens that there is a lovely greenish blue showing on the wood that matches the lovely Wedgwood. Sometimes, everything just falls into place. The original hinges are still connected to the frame. Every piece is one-of-a-kind and this will never be able to be duplicated. So special in person!
Available for $150.00. We are so busy creating for our upcoming Antique Fair show in San Juan Bautista on August 2nd, it is known for being a wonderful event so anyone within driving distance may want to spend the first Sunday of August in historic San Juan Bautista.

This is one of our most fantastic treasures. This window is over 150 years old with TEN original panes in excellent condition. A very nice family in downtown Hollister has had this stored safely for years and years and phoned us after reading our newspaper article. (click to enlarge)

We LOVE to get pictures from our clients after they have hung their vintage window art in their homes.

This window has a lovely home on a ranch in Florida (central coast). A very nice gentleman fell in love with this piece while viewing our blog. We hope he enjoys it as much as we did making it.
Juli was actually going to keep this one because that center platter is TDF (to die for)!
The next two windows are on beautiful Lake Murray in South Carolina. We love the large picture windows to display the vintage window art:

Ornate Designs

We have many new designs that we are creating for the upcoming antique show in San Juan Bautista on August 2nd.
This is a beautiful depression glass platter/dish in peach/pink tones.

Here is a close-up of the beautiful dish:

Debi calls this one the "Taj Mahal" because it is the most ornate design we have done to date. I wanted to call it "10,000 Beads Under The Sea" because it took us FOREVER to complete. This window is from the oldest home known in Hollister, a contractor had saved it but offered it to us for sale because he thought we could make good use out of it.
The center dish/platter is a treasured find from an antique store in Santa Cruz.

This window is in excellent condition for being so very old and we just love the arch at the top. The window is 3 1/2 feet tall by 2 1/2 feet wide.
The pictures do NOT do this window justice. It is stunning in person!

Elegant Twists

We have been working non-stop since we got our latest amazing windows from the house in Hollister that was built in 1882, they are in such good shape and that old wavy glass is something that we admire so much. We never know how a window will turn out until we lay a particular vintage dish down and let it "speak to us". All of these windows are about the same size. We were going to name this post "A Thousand Glass Beads" because that's what it felt like when we started gluing everything. (click any picture to enlarge)

The above window has a gorgeous depression glass dish paired with the clear glass beads which will go with almost any decor.
Loopty Loop Lovliness is happy. That dish wanted to be the center of attention.
The above depression glass dish is really beautiful when light hits it - the details in these old dishes is really a work of art in and of itself. We love being able to show off those gorgeous designs from the 1930s and 1940s.

We are so very excited to get such great old windows, we just love designing our vintage window art.

Working On Our Loot

This is another "Flower Power" that we just designed. Our first one sold rather quickly so we were able to design another one. Here is Debi setting it up for it's photo shoot:

This is where we lay out designs on a white tablecloth. You can see our bins of glass beads. After laying out the design, we start gluing. We have to be outside because the glue we use needs ventilation. We then CAREFULLY move the piece inside to dry flat for 24 hours. Only then, can we see it vertically and photograph it:

Our newest windows are in excellent condition and only require a fresh coat of paint. We are painting half of them white and the other half will be black.
Juli's favorite is this fantastic find - it came from the oldest home that was ever built in Hollister - a nice contractor had saved it for himself but allowed us to purchase it because he heard what we were doing with old windows and he wanted it to be useful. It is 3 1/2 ft. high by 2 1/2 ft wide and we have had a special platter that will be perfect. We are designing it before the paint is even dry we are so excited! This is the window after one coat of paint, obviously, before it is cleaned.

We are hoping to get the design finished this afternoon so we can photograph it tomorrow.

Our Mascot and Our Work Station

We have had an amazing last few days and have sold and shipped out eleven of our windows which left us with less than twenty completed and available windows. We're not complaining but we have an upcoming antique show in San Juan Bautista on August 2nd so we need to build up our inventory. Although, Juli's husband rather enjoys having his deck back to normal when we have no windows, our mascot likes it when we are all outside and working.

No sooner had we mentioned that we needed some luck finding 1800s windows, than our phone rang and it was a local contractor who was remodeling a home in Hollister that was built in 1882. He even removed them for us and helped us load them into our car. This is our late Friday afternoon loot before pressure wash and paint job:

A Lavender Diversion!

'Tis The Season!

In California, we are in the midst of the two week lavender harvest season and we have been making our favorite lavender crafts. We are so very lucky to have lavender in our backyard - literally and figuratively. This year, Leal Vineyards is kind enough to let us harvest some of their grosso lavender from France and they also have some lovely English lavender:

You can see a bit of their abundant lavender in the above photograph.
We may list our lavender crafts on Etsy but wanted to share them with our lovely blog readers.
First, may we introduce you to our lavender logs:

We sell our lavender logs for a very reasonable $40 each.
These are loaded with extremely fragrant grosso and English lavender and decorated with our own dried roses. Some people actually use these as fire starters but we can't bear to think of that demise with these sweet decorations.
Now, for our lavender wands:

These date back to the Victorian times and were the first sachets (they didn't have little organza bags back then!). Elizabethan ladies used to gather lavender and transform it into these delightful 'wands' or 'bottles' to put in their linen cupboards. Use them to fragrance linen or lingerie drawers, or wherever you would use a sachet.
We have to weave these within an hour of harvesting because of the pliability of the lavender. The lavender buds are inside the basket and these last for decades. A gentle squeeze is all that is need to release the fragrance.
Our lavender wands are $20 each and are made with the fragrant grosso lavender imported from France that we harvested from Leal Vineyards.

Our client in Carmel - the one who ordered this window:
She was nice enough to give us her fourth sunflower dish and we had the perfect little window to display it on. A client on the East Coast said that she loved the sunflowers so when we offered this little gem, she purchased it immediately. Thank you so much Mrs. Nell!

We are often asked how we find old windows, finding old windows in GOOD shape is extremely difficult and we also try to use windows only from the 1800s which drastically reduces our options for potential creations.

Crystal Clear

This is a very unique multi-paned window that is approx. 4 ft. wide by 2 ft. high with "legs". The contractor said that this was over the front door of a home in Hollister, California that was built in the 1880s.

We kept the design simple and elegant, believe it or not, this took us a long time to create because of the uniqueness of the narrow panes.

Sunflower Delight

This is a custom window for a lovely lady in Carmel, California. She has had these adorable sunflower dishes and wanted us to incorporate them into our art. Juli painted the stems and leaves to bring the dishes to life.

We deviated from our normal designs and she is delighted with the final result. We'll get a better picture when it is hanging in her home.

This home was built in 1879 and has some really unique multi-paned redwood windows that are in great shape. 1893 Window with FOUR Antique Crystal Salt Dishes

Friends in high places! A local contractor is remodeling a home built in 1893 and he saved this old kitchen window for us. It is a rare thicker window (over two inch thick wood frame) and is less than 2 ft. X 2 ft with four panes. We found these antique salt dishes in Soquel, California and kept the design simple because of the beauty of the old window and crystal dishes. They look like diamonds when the sun hits them:

Delicious and Divine

Look at these rare old multi-paned small windows! 21" high and 24" wide - light weight for shipping! One of the dishes is an old crystal salt dish and the other one is a very old crystal ashtray that has lovely pink coloring.

This adorable little window measures 18" wide by 21" high. We used antique crystal salt dishes that we found in an antique store in Soquel, California. The back was left in it's original condition.

Busy Bees

We have just finished scavenging the California coast for some awesome windows and vintage dishes and were lucky enough to find about 5 of the smaller sized windows from the late 1800s.

We have some lovely amber dishes that look a bit like carnival glass (not sure) and some blue depression glass plates that are fantastic, we found TWO amazing vibrant dishes, one is red and in the shape of a heart and the other is a spectacular orange color..

The window is from a home built in the 1860s and the dish is very unusual, we were told that it is from the 1930s/40s - it has hobnail characteristics and Fostoria type sheen but we have no idea - it was one of our pricier dishes but we HAD to have it! I received one last week and the other one today and they are absolutely gorgeous. What a clever idea!! I am so proud of these uniquely designed 150-year old windows from the California wine country. As soon as they are hung where the sunset will shine through, I will send you pictures.

We live on beautiful Lake Murray where the lakeside of the house has nothing but windows, a perfect place for this artwork to be displayed.

Obviously, black is a favorite. We almost sold everything with black frames at our festival so this is what we have been working on to replenish our store. Please excuse the glare, we are still working on photographing our vintage window art.

We have about fifteen more amazing windows from an old home in Hollister, California. The home was built when Abraham Lincoln was President! They are in excellent condition and we can't wait to finish our designs to share them with you.

We have been working our fingers to the bone this week! We came across some A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. vintage dishware and more windows from 1860! 1860! It is still hard to believe that Lincoln was President when these windows were created. Click any picture to enlarge:

Identical matches are close to impossible when dealing with vintage dishes and very old windows. These are an almost perfect match but one is slightly larger than the other and we also have slight color changes with the glass embellishments.

Below is the heavily embellished bubble dish plate with a black frame. We used a platter and two matching dishes of the same old pattern. This piece is exquisite:
